RSC Anderlecht was formed in 1908 and they play with their club colors purple and white. Their nickname is usually because of this, Purple & White. The home matches are played at Lotto Park with room for about 28,000 spectators. The club has been dominant in the Belgian top league and has over 30 league titles while in Europe they also won both the Cup Winners' Cup and the Uefa Cup in the 1970s and 1980s.
Several great Belgian players have been important in the club over the years, but there has also been a Swede who has grown into a club legend in RSC Anderlecht. Midfield star Pär Zetterberg played there between 1996–2000 and later also 2005–2006, during both stays he also had the captain's band around his arm.
