Angers Sporting Club de l'Ouest was founded in 1919 and is usually named after the nicknames Le SCO, Les Scoïstes or Les Noirs et Blancs (The Black and Whites). The nicknames also give a hint about the club's colors which are black and white.
The home matches are played at Raymond Kopa Stadium, with room for about 19,000 spectators. The arena is named after a great French football legend who made his senior debut for Angers SCO. Another significant legend for the club was Jean Vincent, who also became an important player in the French national team in the 1950s.
