Brentford FC - History

Brentford FC was founded in 1889 after a meeting between the two ancient English colleges Oxford and Cambridge. Their goal was to extend the rowing season with football or rugby to keep the rowers going all year round. After voting, it was decided that football would be the choice and Brentford FC was started up. The team had the most successful period in the 1930s with, among other things, victory in the highest league in 1936. They are the only club that has won all their home matches in one season.

Brentford FC is one of the teams playing in West London. The hot derby is played at their home arena Griffin Park. The hottest of them are against Fulham, but matches against Queen Park Rangers also qualify as big matches.  You can secure your match tickets for these matches with us!

The Bees as the team is called are now playing in the Championship and are looking forward to the coming seasons with a newly designed club coat of arms and a new website. The nickname The Bees was inadvertently adopted when a group of students from Borough Road College watched their friend Joe Gettins who then played in Brentford and cheered "buck up Bs". Brentford player Ken Coote is the one with the most matches for the club, he made 559 appearances for the red and white team between 1949–1964 and still holds the club's record.
