Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, often referred to simply as Brighton, is an English professional football club based in the city of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. The club was founded in 1901 and plays its home matches at the Falmer Stadium, commonly known as the Amex Stadium, which has a capacity of around 30,000 spectators.
In the early years, Brighton spent the majority of their time in the lower divisions of English football. One of the club's most notable periods was in the 1980s when they reached the FA Cup Final in 1983, losing to Manchester United in a replay. After that followed several years of struggle both on and off the pitch, including financial difficulties and relegations.
A turning point came in the 2010s when the club got new owners and built the Amex Stadium. Under the leadership of manager Chris Hughton, Brighton achieved historic promotion to the Premier League in 2017. This was a monumental achievement for the club that had spent 34 years outside the top division.
Brighton are known for their attractive and attacking style of football, especially under manager Graham Potter who took over in 2019. The club has established itself as a stable Premier League side, known for developing young talent and having a strong local base with a loyal supporter base. Brighton & Hove Albion continue to grow and develop, both on and off the pitch, and have an exciting future ahead of them in English football.
