Red Bull Leipzig, formally known as RasenBallsport Leipzig e.V., is a German football club founded on 19 May 2009 by the Austrian energy drink company Red Bull GmbH. The club is based in Leipzig, Saxony and plays its home games at the Red Bull Arena.

RB Leipzig was founded with the goal of making it to the Bundesliga, Germany's highest football division, within a short time frame. The club began its journey in the fifth division, the NOFV-Oberliga Süd, and quickly advanced through the league system. Already in 2016, after only seven years, RB Leipzig reached the Bundesliga.
