At the Deepdale arena, the Preston football club plays its home games. The club was formed as early as 1875 but did not take up the football section until 1880. The Deepdale arena is known as one of the world's oldest arenas where professional football is still played. Outside the arena is a statue of Sir Tom Finney, one of the club's most important figures of all time. In everyday life, "The Lilywhites" play in white jerseys during their home matches.
