Sheffield Wednesday FC is a professional football club in the city of Sheffield, founded in 1867. The club was formed to keep players active during the winter season when it consisted of local workers who took time off on Wednesday afternoons, hence the name Sheffield Wednesday. The club is the fifth oldest in the English league. They have won the league a total of four times, the FA Cup three times and the league cup once.
Sheffield Wednesday FC is also known as The Owis and they come from the club's home arena is in the Owlerton district of Sheffield. The club's players wear striped blue and white shirts and their arch-rival in England is Sheffield United who come from the same city.
