The club nicknamed the Saints is the city of Southampton's pride, located in the south of England. It was founded in 1885 by football interested members from St. Mary's Church Young Men Association, a club name that later became Southampton FC. A tribute to these founders can now be found in the name of the new stadium.

They played their home games for a long time at the classic English stadium the Dell but in 2001 they moved to the modern St. Mary´s Stadium, with room for about 32,000 spectators. UEFA ranks this as a four-star stadium, ensuring quality and safety at match events at European level, in class with other European arenas such as Anfield and Parc de Princes.
The club's white and red striped jersey has been worn by players such as Peter Shilton, Kevin Keegan and the crowd pleaser Matthew Le Tissier.
In recent times, the club is known for being a good springboard for players in its football career. They have developed and later sold players like Alan Shearer, Gareth Bale, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Luke Shaw. This development needs to be attributed to the club's successful youth academy where several talents first been rewarded with a place at the first team and then given the chance to move on to other club destinations and thus provide a good financial contribution back to the club through that sale.
