The Jacksonville Jaguars, founded in 1993, are an American football team based in Jacksonville, Florida. The team debuted in the NFL in 1995 as an expansion franchise along with the Carolina Panthers. In their early years, the Jaguars experienced rapid success under the leadership of head coach Tom Coughlin. Already in their second season, in 1996, the team reached the AFC Championship Game, a feat they repeated in 1999.
The Jaguars play their home games at TIAA Bank Field, an arena known for its electric atmosphere and dedicated fan base. The team's colors – black, gold and teal – have become iconic in the NFL. The Jaguars have had several standout players over the years, including quarterback Mark Brunell, running back Fred Taylor and wide receiver Jimmy Smith, all of whom contributed to the team's early success.
After the success of the 90s, the team struggled with inconsistent performance in the 2000s and 2010s. A highlight in recent years was the 2017 season, when the Jaguars reached the AFC Championship Game again, led by a strong defensive unit and quarterback Blake Bortles.
Owner Shad Khan, who bought the team in 2011, has worked to rebuild and modernize the Jaguars, both on and off the field. With a combination of new talent and ambitious management, the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to return to the top of the NFL and build on their legacy.
